Kaiāulu Framework

The Kaiona Framework is a living, evolving representation of our community’s perspective on well-being, grounded in the traditional stories, knowledge, and values of our place. E Ala Voyaging Academy adopted this framework to guide our operations and programming efforts.

E Ala waʻa is the core and essence of our organization. Our floating classroom will allow our community to build connections, strengthen identity, develop skills, and practice the traditions of our kupuna. This beautiful voyaging canoe is currently in drydock. Click on the title above to visit our restoration progress.

Keaolaniowaianae is a traditional 4-man ʻōpelu waʻa. To fulfill the promises of our kupuna and Waiʻanae waʻa leaders, E Ala Voyaging Academy took on the ʻōpelu project. This waʻa is currently in drydock. Click on the title above to visit our restoration progress.

Kamaehu o ke Kaiāulu, aims to foster community connections through Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) cultural values to strengthen youth health and well-being in our predominantly Kānaka Maoli community of Waiʻanae.

In partnership with Mana Maoli, Kamaile Academy, and sponsored by Kamehameha Schools, we embarked on an intimate journey to uncover stories of E Ala waʻa and his connection to this ʻāina. This project created opportunities for students to develop and experience multi-media production skills (S.T.E.A.M) while learning about voyaging and its traditions.
